Rural Economic Development

Martin J. Briley, President and CEO, Virginia Economic Development Partnership will brief the Caucus on the status of Virginia’s Rural Economy and Economic Development.

Mary Rae Carter, Virginia’s first Deputy Secretary of Commerce and Trade for Rural Economic Development will brief attendees on the Impact of the Administration’s Economic Development Agenda on the economy of rural Virginia.

Education and Workforce Development in Rural Regions

Dr. Oliver A. McBride, Executive Director, Crossroads Institute will report on the Rural Center’s support of the alignment of education, workforce skills training, job creation and business development, and the meeting convened March 2011with Education leaders to address the need to tie skills training with industry needs.  Education Leaders have been invited to address the Caucus on how the Rural Center can impact education and workforce outcomes to enhance job creation and economic development in rural areas.
