A
Virginia 'Federal /State' Partnership
Created by the Virginia General Assembly as a
local entity without political status, the
Center for Rural Virginia and the
USDA-recognized Council for Rural Virginia
work in tandem with local efforts to provide the
objective, non-partisan data to enable our
partners in government and business to make the
decisions that will have the greatest, most
lasting impact for all Virginians.
Established in 1992 with the assistance of the
US Department of Agriculture, the Council is
governed by a 21 member Board of Directors
generated from its grassroots partners and
membership, and is structured as a private
public partnership.
Both
the Center and Council are 501(c)(3) tax exempt
organizations. As an advocate and catalyst for
economic growth, Va Rural Center's
priority is to be the link between
government—federal, state and local-and our
private-sector partners to leverage resources to
best meet the needs of the citizens of rural
Virginia.
Both
organization have a combined mission to improve
the quality of life in the Commonwealth's rural
areas by:
bringing together key individuals in rural
development
enhancing communication among these groups
encouraging collaborative and cooperative
partnership to work toward the delivery of more
effective, efficient service to citizens who
live and work in Rural Virginia.
